Beautiful bowls handmade by one of our favorite tea potters of the Czech Republic Petr Novak @potsandtea
The name Kokuyō comes from the Japanese word kokuyōseki — obsidian. It refers to the deep glow of volcanic glass: dark at first glance, yet capable of reflecting light from within. The name captures the character of this bowl — a deep black surface highlighted by luminous golden flashes.
Stoneware bowls are glazed with black glaze with inclusions of golden glaze, creating magical and unique mark on each bowl. Inside, the lighter glaze reveals delicate speckling that softly frames the color of tea.
Each bowl is handmade, with subtle variations in color, texture, and surface created during firing.
