Clean, natural pale bamboo storage tube designed to store, display, and safely transport a traditional matcha tea scoop. Crafted from natural bamboo with gently hand-planed facets along its body. The faceted perimeter not only showcases the cross-section and grain of the bamboo culm, but also keeps the tube securely in place when resting on a tea table or tatami. Tube is fitted with a fitted wooden stopper to protect the delicate curve of the scoop inside.
In the Japanese tea ceremony, a scoop (chashaku) and its tube (tsutsu) traditionally belong together. A tea master or artisan often gives the scoop a poetic name and writes it directly on the bamboo tube in black ink. This tube come blank and unsigned. Clean look lets the natural bamboo speak for itself, while leaving room for you to choose a name for your own scoop if you wish.
Please note: The case is sold on its own. The bamboo scoop shown in the photos is for scale and reference only. If you need one, you can select the option to include Vintage Japanese Chashaku. Add an authentic, pre-owned bamboo scoop hand-selected from Japanese flea markets. Each scoop has its own distinct carved node, natural grain, and traces of past tea ceremonies.
