Hōju Tea Jar is hand made on a pottery wheel from stoneware clay, fired over 1230°C. Both inside and outside are glazed. The surface reveals shifting tones, like light on a weathered stone.
Named after the Hōju (宝珠), the “sacred jewel” of Buddhist tradition. In Buddhist iconography, the jewel symbolizes wisdom, compassion, and the fulfillment of wishes.
Designed to preserve tea with reverence, Hōju is not only a container but also a reminder of the sacredness found in everyday practice — an object that transforms the ordinary into the precious.
