This linen is a treasure, a precious link to the past. It was created by the skilled hands of Slovakian mountain women a century ago and was kept hidden away until it was uncovered last year. Its texture is unique, a testament to the artistry of the weavers who made it. And now, it will be transformed by the magic of the tea ceremony, becoming a canvas for the beauty and elegance of the tea experience. Drops of tea will soak into that ancient fabric and make an unprecedented fusion of history and sophistication.
As I gazed upon this wondrous artifact, I felt a sense of awe wash over me. It was clear to me that this was no ordinary piece of cloth, but a true relic of a bygone era. And so, I knew that I had to treat it with the utmost care and respect.
In order to preserve its raw beauty and authenticity, I made a conscious decision to refrain from altering it in any way. No dyes, no additional fabrics, nothing. Just a gentle wash to remove the years of accumulated dust, followed by a meticulous cutting and edging process.
It's worth noting that this isn't run-of-the-mill fabric. Oh no. This is a magnificent burlap fabric, crafted by hand with a precision and attention to detail that is simply unparalleled. Its organic, earthy texture is peppered with the occasional blade of grass, piece of leaf, or strand of straw, a testament to its authentic origins.
The fabric is a sturdy, roughly textured linen.
Size: 28 x 14 in // 72 x 36 cm.
Care instructions: To keep the memories of your tea sessions and appreciate the aging of your chamber, we recommend avoiding washing it. But if you must, hand wash it in lukewarm water with a gentle soap and flat dry. Iron on medium heat with steam.
Pro tip: Iron your chabu before the tea ceremony to eliminate wrinkles and folds, and make your tea space look impeccable.
