This incense holder consists of two elements: a base and a lotus bud cover, designed to enclose and guide the movement of smoke.
The piece was wood-fired, resulting in natural surface variation, ash deposits, and tonal shifts created by flame, ash, and atmosphere inside the kiln. All markings, color transitions, and textures are unrepeatable and intrinsic to this firing. It is a one-of-a-kind ceramic object, formed and fired as a single, unique piece.
The holder can be used with incense spirals, small sticks, and pyramid incense. Incense may be placed directly on the base plate, or into a thin layer of ash added to the central cavity, allowing for flexible use depending on the form of incense.
As the incense burns, it is normal for the inside of the holder to become discolored due to the smoke.
